Rivers flow through the world, carving out their own paths. Waves crash along the shoreline and moves the land. Water is a powerful force that overtakes the solid, steady and seemingly strong Earth. Here in Nicaragua, volcanic reefs are shaped into curves and grooves by the water. Sometimes, a high tide erodes a chunk of the shoreline, along with the retaining wall built to keep the sea at bay.
Water ebbs and flows; it comes, and it goes. We're made of water, so we too have the option to powerfully flow through the world. What if, instead of forcing our perspectives, opinions, and actions, we allowed ourselves to move through life like water?
Life pumps through us in every waking moment. We are not separate from the ocean or the shoreline. We are the waves rocking the land, and we are the Earth crumbling into the sea. What would happen if we could let it all be?
Your Self-Concept
How we perceive ourselves is everything in the astrological climate of 2025 and beyond. For those who appreciate the details, Saturn and Neptune in Aries are remodelling our self-concepts. These waves are roaring, and humanity's experience is full-on right now. It's a battlefield at times, but how we fight the good fight makes all the difference.
Our self-concept provides a sense of security and safety, much like a seatbelt that holds us in place on the road. Choosing our identity and cultivating it is a way to prepare for the adventure ahead. When you know who you are, and even better, who you want to become, you click into yourself. If we slam on the brakes (because this energy is full of surprises), well then, you won't go flying.
We can't stop the external world from heating up, but we can be like water that flows through life, moulding the shorelines and cooling down the heat.
At the end of 2024, I did a class with my life coach Jessica Colp. We reviewed the past year, then looked ahead. I'm an achiever, and forcing myself to accomplish goals is my MO. But 2025 felt like a whole different vibe. This year, I wanted to be relaxed, easy, and as they say in Nicaragua, tranquillo.
We're over halfway through the year, and making relaxation my end goal has been a hit. I'm finally understanding that it's easier to relax my way through life. To swim in the seas of my heart and regulate my system before taking action.
Has your personal identity expanded, shifted or simplified?
Are you experiencing a change in your self-concept?
As 2025 unfolds, we find ourselves amid a collective identity shift, and what it means to be human has undergone a significant change. In my work as an astrologer, I always return to the fact that we're made of stardust. So, let's choose to live cosmically. Let's expand beyond old, dense perspectives.
New Destinations
Humanity's outgrown the old ways, and we need to move in new directions. We know something has to shift, and we want to create a new reality on Earth. But this need for progress creates a collective traffic jam.
Picture a bunch of cars all trying to get somewhere at once, like a parking lot after a concert. We know it's time to go and the show is over. Whether we enjoyed it or not, now is the time to move on. However, because we're all crowded into one space, one tiny planet in a sea of galaxies, the change isn't happening fast enough.
How do you move through traffic? Do you curse those around you and aggressively tailgate the person in front? Or do you let others in, turn on some music and enjoy the time you're spending in the car? What if the tension we're feeling is because society is changing and trying to reach a new destination?
When we're in traffic, trying side road routes or refreshing our maps app overcomplicates things. We can either check if the cars ahead are moving or swerve between lanes to save a few seconds. Or we can sit with what is, trust the timing and just be. Which is the fastest route, and our best bet because simplicity is key right now.
Simplicity
Can we keep it simple? Can we choose who we want to be, click into that identity and give ourselves and others space for the journey to unfold? It's not as complicated as our minds tell us, and this summer's mercury retrograde is teaching us that love is our destination.
Are we moving with the flow of traffic?
Are we going towards love?
Who are we being?
What are we bringing?
Like a river, as we flow through the world, we shape our surroundings, even the most rugged ones. There are many things we can't change, but self-awareness is always a choice. This simple approach to life, knowing whether we are coming from love or fear, keeps us in tune and in the flow.
From there, we give other people room to drive in their lanes; we don't curse them or want them to move faster. We know that right now life is moving through us, and love fuels our actions.
So, let's reflect on how epic that concert was, and how much we love our experiences, while knowing it's worth the current gridlock. Let's cultivate as much gratitude as possible, rather than rushing forward to the next thing. Because, here, in this new energy, we don't force; we flow.
Substack continues to fill my heart with so much happiness. I love the coffeeshop-bookstore-library-vibe we’ve got going on here.
Plus, this space sustains my writing and allows me to continue to share my work with the world. A huge thank you to my paid subscribers and clients who book sessions with me. Y’all keep this show running.
IYKYK and if you don’t know…
My paid subscribers receive a video everyone other week with an analogy that describes the current energies. Plus invitation to my monthly Follow the Moon Gathering, live on Substack. Lastly, you have access to me in the comments (or via email) to ask any and all questions, like having a personal astrologer on hand ready to support you.
"You always choose the very best analogies, and the things you see in the cosmic "winds" are blowing bring me such comfort and peace – and also help me reframe some of the challenges as opportunities for growth."
"As usual, your analogy was so spot on."
"I cannot even begin to tell you what your work has meant to me. You truly have a gift! I do not know how you seem to know just the right words to say – and the exact analogies to use that will make sense to me – but once again, you have seemingly crawled into my heart and brain and given my world meaning. I am not kidding when I tell you that my jaw kept hitting the floor over and over again as I listened".
This is such a beautiful read at such the perfect time. Thank you, I hope it touches other souls like it did mine... 🔥
