As the cycles shift and we move beyond intense energies it’s time to nourish ourselves, our bodies and our souls. Are you craving some downtime? A debrief where you get to be with yourself? No movement or motion, just an opportunity to receive and relax.
This past summer the waves have come on strong, and after tulmutuous times it’s hard to relax. We brace ourselves for the next set and prepare to be taken out, yet again. Sitting still and meditating ourselves into the abyss might not be an option right now.
Instead, we can harness the power of creativity. We can make something. We can pour our hearts into a project or a passion, not because we need to make money on it, but just because it’s fun to create. Let’s use the analogy of homemade soup. A perfect example of something that soothes the heart and fills the soul
First, we need to gather the ingredients. The fresher the better. Why not look around your local community. There are so many things surrounding us all. We have been jumping into the future, feeling our potential and excited about the changes. Maybe we are overwhelmed and afraid of what’s to come. But start close to home. What harvests are around you? What seeds have sprouted? What is waiting to be picked and enjoyed? Take in the cornucopia of blessings around you, even if you have to start small and basic.
Now that we’ve got the goods, cooking is so much more fun when we turn on some music and grab a friend to prep our meal. Let’s enjoy our time in the kitchen, pour our hearts into these soups and know the process of making something is just as important as the finished results. While dicing up those veggies, tell some jokes. Have a heart-to-heart conversation when you measure the spices. Dance around the kitchen while you throw it all into the pot.
When everything is together, we gotta bring that baby to a boil. This means it’s time to get heated. Get emotional. Let the feelings rock and roll. If we numb ourselves out and pretend not to feel, the flavours will never come together. Making soup requires us to crank up the heat. It's not always comfortable, but it's always necessary for the pieces to come together. The pot could boil over, it could get messy, but we can always clean up the kitchen after. No worries if you spill a little here or there, like a child fingerprinting, making a mess is part of the fun.
Boiling serves its purpose but if we keep it going for too long everything is just going to turn to mush. Here’s where we need discernment. We’re responsible for moving from boiling to simmering. We need to turn down the heat, take a step back and let things settle. When things are getting a little too over the top, you are allowed to take some space. That space will allow all those ingredients to settle and you’re one step closer to nourishing yourself with the soup.
As we move into the weeks ahead remember to enjoy what you’ve worked towards. Bite into the fruits of your labour. It’s been a wild summer. It’s paramount to enjoy yourself, indulge when you can and give yourselves credit for how far you’ve come. May your creations nourish your soul. You made it, you are the masterpiece. Look into the mirror, take in your eyes and give yourself some credit. Then, cozy up, grab that bowl of soup, centre yourself and give thanks. Bonus points if you decide to share that bountiful pot of soup with your neighbours, because we’ve all been through it these past few months, and little acts of kindness go a long way.

I’m so freaking blessed to get to show up for my one on one clients. I’ve got availability in the weeks ahead and you can schedule at www.shannonhugman.as.me.
Here’s what people are saying about my sessions:
Shannon started our session and had so much to tell me, she explained things so beautifully and was very relatable. She used many real life examples in her reading, and even though she thought them up randomly, the topics and words she used actually connected to me personally! I was blown away by this and her intuition. After the reading she told me I could email her with questions at anytime, even if it is a year later. Extremely high quality service and knowledge from this very gifted woman!
Haha. Making SOUP! I DO miss your face! 🥰🌠
